Questions for Christians | Fitness &...

Wasn’t Egyptian Joseph a bit of a bellend?

Not exactly a man of the people was he? Spiteful greedy prick used his dream to exploit people and gain power.

Did Moses defo write the first bits of the Old Testament?

Epic of Gilgamesh literally contains the story of Noah for example, it was written 1,000+ years before the Bible.

Divine Inspiration or Copy & Paste?

How do we reconcile the Bible’s divine inspiration with the fact that many stories seem borrowed or shared with older cultures?

“Even the Devil Can Cite Scripture to Suit his Cause” – Picking and Choosing

This is something that most non-Christians point out…many are still anti-gay but ignore the rest of the rules, like not being fat etc.

A classic for me though – Why teach creationism, and not the Earth being flat and/or the centre of the universe.

In the 1700s people were getting burnt alive in public for suggesting that the Earth wasn’t the centre of the universe. Giordano Bruno being the best example. Chap was a monk, and they burnt him at the stake.

Why do people often pick and choose certain Bible verses to judge others (like around sexuality), but ignore others (like eating shellfish or wearing mixed fabrics)?

  • If Jesus emphasised love and forgiveness, why do so many Christians seem to focus more on sin and punishment?
  • How were the books of the Bible chosen, and why were some texts excluded (like the Book of Enoch or Gospel of Thomas)?
  • Do you think faith and questioning can coexist?
  • Did everyone have a magic staff that turned into a snake back in the day, or just Christians and Egyptians.
  • what in the fuck is this supposed to mean?

6 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.” https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+14%3A26&version=NIV

  • Ephesians 6:5-9:Slaves are instructed to obey their earthly masters with sincerity, as if they were serving Christ, and masters are told to treat their slaves justly and not to threaten them.
  • 1 Peter 2:18:Servants are instructed to be subject to their masters, even if they are harsh or cruel.
