UFC Vegas 107 just got ANOTHER fight replacement …
The world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion today announced that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight, MarQuel Mederos, has been removed from his bout with Bolaji Oki because of an illness.
As a result, Contender Series alum, Michael Aswell, has stepped in on just three days’ notice to compete in “Sin City.”

Aswell (10-2) competed on Season 8 of Contender Series against Bogdan Grad, but dropped a split decision in an absolute slugfest.
While he did not receive a contract, UFC CEO, Dana White, promised Aswell that he would be on top of the matchmaker’s list for a short-notice opportunity. However, that took a lot longer than anticipated. As a result, he decided to remain active, taking on a fight against Dorian Ramos late last year, which he won via unanimous decision.
For what it’s worth, Aswell is a former Fury FC Featherweight champion.

Oki (9-2), meanwhile, had a ton of hype surrounding him after he knocked out Dylan Salvador on Season 7 of Contender Series. However, he hasn’t lived up to the hype thus far inside the Octagon.
In his UFC debut, he won a ho-hum split decision over Timmy Cuamba, and then in his most recent outing, he got choked unconscious by Chris Duncan at UFC Paris (relive that here).
